In Matthew 5:14 (MSG) Jesus says:
When we first walked into the building that is now Gas Street Church we quickly discovered that it was once an industrial site for the purpose of manufacturing gas that was used to power street lamps across the city. The history of the building instantly provided us with a compelling narrative, a prophetic picture, of a church that would be LIGHT FOR THE CITY...
GATHER AND SCATTER
…but not just one central light; hundreds, even thousands, of lights all carrying the love and truth of the gospel into their everyday lives. We are a church that GATHERS AND SCATTERS. We gather on Sundays. We gather in Groups and Teams. We gather to worship, to pray, to open God’s word, to be filled again by the power of the Holy Spirit. We gather to grow as disciples. We gather to be community, to play our part, to be family. We gather to share stories, to stand with one another, and to spur each another on. We gather to create an environment where people from all walks of life can ‘come and see’.
And then we scatter… as light bearers, as peacemakers, as joy-bringers, as city-shapers, culture-setters, world-changers… as Jesus-followers...
THIS IS US
…and as Jesus followers we want to become more like Him. To live out our everyday lives secure in our identity as beLOVED children of our perfect Heavenly Father. To be DEVOTED in our worship, not just singing songs but a lifestyle of holiness that flows from a lifestyle of devotion. To be fully ALIVE, creative in all that we do, and committed to a journey of greater freedom and wholeness. To be REAL; approaching life and our relationships with authenticity and integrity, with honesty and vulnerability. To be SELFLESS, to prefer one another, to choose submission, to embrace sacrifice and take up our cross for the sake of others. To live GENEROUS expansive lives, actively looking for opportunities to give our time, money and possession. And to choose the ADVENTUROUS life, not settling for comfort and safety, but to take risks, to exercise faith, and to boldly step into the unknown for the sake of the Kingdom.”
Join us on the journey…
