What is ‘The Big Breakfast’?
‘The Big Breakfast’ is an exciting opportunity to love, support, and ‘do life’ alongside children and families in the local area of Ladywood by creating a space for food, fun and friendship. We believe this is a fabulous opportunity to be Light for the City in a part of Birmingham where many families face the daily challenge of food-insecurity.
Last academic year, a team of volunteers ran events where hundreds of children and families came through our doors, ate a hearty meal, and engaged in fun activities for all ages. The response from the local community has been overwhelming, and in our June Summer Big Breakfast, we had queues of people waiting to come onto the school grounds and be part of the fun. Already, the Ladywood Big Breakfast has served over 1,500 sausages, 900 pancakes and 300 ice-creams!
How can I get involved?
This team ensures that a great selection of food is available for anyone that comes through our doors. They will be preparing and serving a full English breakfast and manning our infamous pancake station. No previous experience is required – just enthusiasm and a serving heart!
This team welcomes all, makes people feel at ease and facilitates conversations. This job is so important as our vision is to create a space where relationships and community can thrive - this is why the host team is so integral to everything that we do.
This team facilitate play, leading activities and bringing fun to the event. The Kids Team will be there to ensure that everybody is having a great time, from manning a slime station, painting and crafting, or leading sports outside. The activities are low key to run and will just require enthusiasm!
If you would like to be involved, please fill in our interest form at the top of this page and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We will be running DBS checks as part of our commitment to safeguarding children.
