LIGHT FOR THE CITY

St Luke’s Gas Street was once an industrial site for manufacturing gas. That gas was used to power the street lamps that illuminated the area surrounding this part of the city. The history of this wonderful building has provided us with a compelling narrative to be a church that generates light for the city of Birmingham. In Matthew 5:14 (MSG) Jesus says

“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in our world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.”

The source of the ‘light’, that we pray will pour out of this building, is the love and power of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to not only create a space where people from all walks of life can experience that love and power, but also to create a community of believers who carry that light into their every day lives.
