Communications & Media

The Communications & Media team at Gas Street are a creative and skilled team who’s focus is telling the story of what God is doing through the church in the city of Birmingham. We are passionate about all things aesthetic and love working on projects that engage our community here as well as the online community who follow what Gas Street are doing!

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • Being part of a fun team of artistic, innovative and hard working people 

  • Seeing what it takes to communicate vision on a broad scale - from the genesis of a concept to the physical outworking of a final product

  • Having a go at developing your own media/creative skills through involvement in projects throughout the year

  • Learning how to grow and develop a brand

Responsibilities:

  • You will assist the Communications Coordinator in managing and developing projects as well as the channels of communication (e.g. website, social media)

  • In addition to that, and depending on your skill set and previous experience, you will also have the opportunity to get involved in any combination of design, video, photography, & animation work (or any other areas you are skilled in!)

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • The aim for this year is that by the end of it, you have had a fun, challenging and rewarding time with us where their skills in organisation & management have been stretched alongside their creative skills

Who is this for?:

Anyone with a passion for storytelling, communication & media, with a strong drive to be involved in making creative projects happen. The ideal candidate will already have experience and skill in one or more media forms which can then be developed further throughout the year

Events

Come and be part of the Events team and receive the opportunity to serve along side us as we cater to the needs of both Gas Street Church and the wider community of Birmingham. The Events team is involved in many aspects of the church life including weddings, Christmas Carols, Wildfires Festival, music events and much more!

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • Assisting our amazing events team in day-to-day tasks 

  • Hands on experience in organising big church events such as Christmas Carols and Wildfires

  • Weekly intern meetings where you will have the opportunity to develop both in your faith and skill set

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • That you would experience and contribute to a fun team with a big vision, as well as seeing practically what happens behind the scenes at Gas Street Events

  • That you would grow in your personal leadership skills and be better equipped to seek roles in similar organisations

Who is this for?:

This is for someone who is willing to serve in any way, who is eager to get stuck in and wanting to learn & grow in the area of administration and project management

Kids

Gas Street Kids is a thriving ministry for 0-11 year olds. Our heart is that the kids encounter and develop a faith in God for themselves. We believe kids are a fundamental part of the family of God, who can dream dreams, hear from God and make a difference in their worlds - just like adults!

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • As a Gas Street Kids Intern, you will have the opportunity to join the Gas Street Kids Ministry team and play an active part in shaping and developing the ministry, considering how we best serve the kids, their families, the community and the wider Gas Street Kids team

  • This would involve being a key part in our Sunday Gatherings, our 'Worship for Everyone' gatherings, and developing our community groups

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • To grow in your walk with Jesus and feel stretched and prepared for future leadership

  • To better understand kids ministry within the local church

  • To help you understand more about yourself and how you work best both individually and within a team context

  • To learn new skills and build on existing ones which can then be transferred to other areas of life so you can become the best version of you

Who is this for?:

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and passionate people, who love working with kids. They are willing to learn and develop their strengths, leadership skills, and take a risk in serving the kids and their families at St Luke’s Gas Street

Youth

Gas Street Youth is a rapidly growing group of 11-18 year olds who are open and hungry for more of God. They are passionate about exploring faith, being change-makers in this world, and up for having a great time together!

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • As a Gas Street Youth Intern, you will have the opportunity to join the Gas Street Youth Ministry team and play an active part in shaping and developing the ministry, considering how we best serve the youth, their families, the community and the wider Youth team

  • This will include being part of our Sunday gatherings, mid-week clusters, and our social events. We would love you to bring your own ideas and initiatives to strengthen and enhance the current programme

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • To help you understand more about yourself and how you work best both individually and within a team context

Students

We have an incredible group of students at Gas Street. They love seeking God and having fun. The student years are a unique and formative time for many people. As a church we are passionate about seeing every student develop their relationship with Jesus, have the chance to serve the city of Birmingham and feel part of the wider church family

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • Hanging out with students

  • Help plan and prepare and set-up for our weekly student gathering and other events

  • Gather and build student teams

  • We also do a lot of cooking

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • Grow in your leadership of teams

  • Experience student ministry and understanding more of how God has shaped you for his purposes

Who is this for?:

Someone who is passionate about seeing university students growing in their relationship with Jesus

Production

Experience what it takes to be a part of a dynamic and versatile production team; from the various aspects of production in church, leading and growing a team, interacting with other ministry members and leaders within the church etc.

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • Being a part of a fun, hard working, fast moving and innovative team

  • Experience working with volunteers and staff / church leaders

  • Learn new and improve skills in both small and large production set-ups

  • Push yourself technically and creatively

  • Learn about the role that production plays in the engagement and facilitation of worship for gatherings

  • Understand the role of production in creating an atmosphere where people can encounter the presence of God

  • Explore and develop what it means to mix sound musically and creatively to a high level

  • Opportunities to learn and develop in lighting, film and media

Responsibilities:

  • Shadowing and helping to lead the production team at small gatherings and on Sundays

  • Learn what it means to grow & develop a team

  • Deliver training to volunteers at varying levels

  • Helping to organise and plan Sundays and other weekly church events with the Worship & Production team and Gas Street Kids team

  • Seeing how everything works behind the scenes

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • Our hope is that by the end of of the year, you would be fully equipped & confident to lead a production team, and have improved technical, creative and leadership skills

Who is this for?:

This is for people who are interested in all things production and facilitating worship in the local church. We are looking for those who are passionate, hard-working, teachable & willing to serve in whatever capacity. An ideal candidate will have a general understanding of production across video, lighting, media & sound, and some basic experience

Worship

See all the ins and outs of what it means to be a worship pastor; from leading worship, leading a team, interacting with other ministry members and other leaders within the church etc.

Experiences for the intern will include:

  • Be part of an fun, hard working, fast moving and innovative team

  • Push yourself creatively and in what it means to be Holy Spirit led

  • Song-writing

  • Worship Interns will also be a part of the Worship Central Academy throughout the year as part of the intern programme

Responsibilities:

  • Shadowing and leading worship at smaller gatherings and on Sundays

  • Learn what it means to grow & develop a team

  • Helping to organise and plan Sundays and other weekly church events with the Worship & Production team and Gas Street Kids team

  • Seeing how everything works behind the scenes

  • Learn more about production (sound, media etc.)

Hopes and goals for the intern year:

  • Our hope is that by the end of of the year, you would be fully equipped & confident to be a Worship Pastor of a local church

Who is this for?:

This is for emerging leaders who are passionate about fuelling the fire for worship in the local church. We are looking for people who are passionate, hard-working, teachable & willing to serve in whatever capacity
